How It All Began
We are Kim and Janine – two best friends who met at 12 years old and have been inseparable ever since. Though life has taken us to different corners of the world – Kim in Cape Town and Janine in London – our friendship has always been a constant. Over the years, we’ve shared milestones, laughter, and even the same name for our dogs… both called Max!
The idea for Besties for Your Besties was born during a difficult time. Kim’s Max became unwell and stopped eating. Out of love and worry, she began baking simple, wholesome treats, hoping he might take a nibble. To her relief, he did – and that small victory sparked something bigger.
We realised that our dogs aren’t just pets; they’re our companions, our comfort, our family – our besties. Just as we’ve always looked out for each other, we wanted to give our dogs the very best too. That’s when we decided to turn our personal journey into something meaningful for others.
Besties for Your Besties is about love, loyalty, and care – the same values that have carried our friendship through decades. Every treat we bake is made with that spirit, because we believe that best friends, whether two-legged or four, deserve the very best.

At the centre of our brand are our dogs – especially Max and Max. They are our daily inspiration, our taste testers, and the reason we care so deeply about what goes into every treat. If it’s not good enough for them, it’s not good enough for any dog.

Janine Oppenheim
Janine is one half of the heart behind Besties for Your Besties. Based in London, she brings care, thoughtfulness, and heart into everything the brand stands for. Inspired by a lifelong friendship with Kim and a shared love for their dogs, Janine believes that dogs deserve the same love and quality we give to family. For her, Besties for Your Besties is about trust, compassion, and creating treats made with genuine care.
